As Risk Strategies reaches its 25th anniversary, I have been thinking a lot about how that statement reflects why we’ve been able to achieve so much. We have arrived at this place because we’ve gone together - the caring, commitment, and tenacity of all Risk Strategies associates.

I’ve also been reflecting on the importance of this milestone. Anniversaries provide the opportunity to pause and reflect on our journey and recognize the role we have each played in its success.…]]> 2022-08-01T14:38:42+00:00 <![CDATA[Hurricane Season 2022 - Time to Prepare]]> https://risk-strategies.com/knowledge-center/article/hurricane-season-2022-time-to-prepare#When:19:27:34Z When we think of June 1, we fondly think of warm days and cool nights, budding spring flowers, fresh cut grass but we should not forget that it also means the start of the Atlantic Hurricane season.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season was ranked as the third busiest with 21 named storms. The only two busier seasons were 2020 with 30 named storms and 2005 with 27 named storms. Meteorological forecasts for the 2022 Hurricane Season are once again predicting an above average season with between 14 and 21 named storms.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is forecasting that the storm system will approach landfall along the Georgia, South Carolina coast Friday morning with impacts from wind and storm surge along the entire southeast coastal region, including northeast Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

Businesses should invest in updating and implementing policies and procedures covering flexible work environments and schedules. This is essential to avoid potential litigation stemming from allegations of unfair work practices, discrimination, or unlawful termination.

Changing Expectations

The transition to WFH reflects a major change in the workforce. In 2019, less than 6% of Americans worked from home. That number quickly increased to 35% by…]]> 2022-09-28T15:42:51+00:00 <![CDATA[New York PFL Updates for 2023]]> https://risk-strategies.com/knowledge-center/article/new-york-pfl-updates-for-2023#When:15:08:35Z New York Paid Family Leave (NY PFL) launched in 2018 to provide caregiving benefits to New York State (NYS) workers and their families. The so-called Great Resignation continues to be the defining factor for human resources (HR) departments in 2022. But what are the key identifiers in finding top drivers?

Preferred Standards

Setting minimum standards tends to focus us on those minimums, obscuring the benefits of exceeding the minimums whenever possible. We may prefer to hire drivers ages twenty-five and older but decide that a realistic minimum is age 21. Once published, the "21 standard" takes over and managers easily forget the original goal of 25+. Realistic minimum hiring standards are necessary and desirable but…]]> 2022-09-14T18:20:22+00:00 <![CDATA[Upcoming Reporting Deadline for Rx & Healthcare Spending]]> https://risk-strategies.com/knowledge-center/article/upcoming-reporting-deadline-for-rx-healthcare-spending#When:14:59:32Z The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA), passed by Congress in December 2020, included a requirement for group health plans (and health insurers) to submit detailed prescription drug pricing and healthcare spending data to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).[1] This data, referred to as the RxDC report, will be collected and aggregated by CMS to publish public reports on prescription drug pricing trends starting in 2023.
