From its earliest days as a company, RSC worked with healthcare clients. RSC's very first client was the country's second largest (at the time) integrated health organization. Its operations included skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, rehabilitation services, home health, mobile X-ray, medical equipment, and sub-acute facilities. The client had nearly 100,000 employees and an annual cost of risk in excess of $100 million per year. The client utilized a variety of risk financing techniques from insurance to qualified self-insurance to captives. Utilizing the experience and transferrable knowledge gained on this client, RSC built its healthcare practice and expanded into providing risk financing and risk control advice and brokerage services to a wide array of other healthcare businesses. Today, RSC's healthcare practice encompasses physician groups, skilled nursing companies, assisted living companies, rehabilitation hospitals, rehab service companies, and miscellaneous medical services providers. Most of RSC's clients retain some element of risk, with many utilizing captives and high deductible plans to finance their risk. Our services and approach are focused on supporting our clients' risk financing and risk control objectives.
RSC's scope is national with clients in virtually every state. We manage our healthcare clients from several offices with Boston, New York, and Chicago being the primary locations. RSC's staff is well versed with all of the coverages unique to healthcare companies including medical malpractice, general/professional liability, hospital professional liability, workers compensation, property, directors & officers liability, and employment practices liability. RSC's healthcare experts are adept at crafting policy language to ensure the broadest coverage available in the market. We also focus on contractual risk transfer clauses in leases, management agreements, loan documents, and other contractual arrangements to ensure that policy terms and conditions are coordinated with contract terms.
Healthcare specific services include exposure analysis, claim and data management, analytics/actuarial analyses, claim advocacy, risk control services, contract/legal support, coverage expertise, program management, and extensive market/carrier access. RSC does business with all of the major healthcare underwriters including CNA, One Beacon, AIG/Lexington, Endurance, ACE, IronHealth, Darwin, Lloyds, Great American, Chubb, etc. Due to its extensive carrier relationships, RSC has preferred brokerage relationships with most of the top tier carriers. These strong carrier relationships allow RSC to positively influence the quality of the relationship between clients and their carrier partners.
